Inquisitor 2.6 (Beta 1)

Inquisitor 2.6 (Beta 1) is now available for testing. This release brings support for the Camino browser (v1.0) in addition to supporting Safari. For Safari users, there are various minor bug fixes in this release. Further, thanks to some helpful guidance from Arlo Rose over at Yahoo, you can now set your instant results source to either Yahoo or Google. The new Yahoo instant results are actually very fast – faster even than Google – though whether or not the relevancy is as good is a subjective call. That’s why it’s a user preference.

Could be placebo, but Yahoo’s instant results indeed seem much, much faster.

Jon...

Works and looks just how I’d hoped, sterling work.

Not wanting to push my luck – any chance of including Omniweb in the supported browsers too?

Camino’s got a reasonable user base at the moment, and it’s probably growing. Omniweb, on the other hand, barely registers on the radar. It’d be hard to justify the time.

Chris...

Works great for me so far. It froze once while adding a custom search site, but this seemed not to be a reproducable bug.

To add to the probably interminable list of requests for David, it would be cool to have NewsFire become Camino-aware, particularly since Camino has no RSS reader of its own.

brian...

Fantastic work on this, David. I’m thrilled to see it in Camino. Bravissimo!

Duncan...

I would be more than happy to buy another license for Omniweb support — wishful thinking I suppose.

SP...

So far, so great. Looking forward to the resizeable search entry on Camino, though!

Kevin...

Glad to see Camino support.

With the toolbar hidden in Camino, is it possible for inquisitor to replace or be used in the “Search the Web” dialog called up with shift+command+F?

Thanks.

sean...

Have you ever considered the idea of developing a Weblog Editor? MarsEdit and ecto just don’t quite “cut it”.

guerom00...

Shiira, please…
/me begs on my knees

Arlo...

Thanks for adding the Yahoo! XML APIs in!

Chris...

If anyone wants a build of Camino with a wider search field to accomodate Inquisitor, you can grab it from my site. Just click on the “OS X downloads” section.

Bryan...

Any chance you could add a section to search bookmarks?

Zach...

bookmark search would be HUGE!

adin...

del.icio.us search?

zx...

support for Shiira?…please:)

Shiira support is exceedingly unlikely. The numbers do not justify it.

Tom...

i would love bookmark search!

Bryan...

Can you add an option for Camino and Safari to share Inquisitor setting or just additional search sites?

ncus...

Duh!! I wish i have broadband 24 hour internet :(

Chris...

Camino support is fantastic. Thank you!

Frank...

Haven’t tried it yet (getting my mac soon) but wanted to say thanks for your wonderful contributions with these pieces of software. Much love.

Ben...

Hurrah to you, Camino support! I’m very pleased, I didn’t know that was upcoming

Geoffrey...

Inquisitor is all kinds of brilliant. In a future version, would it be possible to drag text from a page into the search box and the menu appear from there?

Larry...

I am most grateful to Chris Fonnesbeck for the camino build mentioned in his comment.

Adriel...

Where can i download this version (the one that has support for camino)?
