Inquisitor Instant Search (Beta)

Inquisitor Instant Search

One of the first questions that came up when I showed off the Inquisitor 2.0 teaser shot was ‘can you do this for another browser?’. I must admit, targetting Safari alone didn’t make much sense, so I decided to code up something that works for any browser, Mac or Windows. Inquisitor Instant Search is the result of this effort.

Inquisitor Instant Search combines as-you-type instant search, search term suggestion, and multiple-engine searching in a single elegant and original user interface that can be used in any (modern) browser like Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari.

Please note, this is brand new. It’s not perfect, yet. Feel free to send any feedback to me at: feedback@inquisitorx.com

The one thing I could even remotely comment on is that the up and down arrows should change the selection. But beyond that: Awesome.

When I say that it is not perfect, keyboard navigation is essentially what I am referring to. Please bear with me on that.

Adam...

So is this going to be available for the safari search bar at any time or is it only accessible on that web page?

Simon...

Wow! Great work, although it just makes me really impatient for Inquisitor 2.0. :o)

Because of this, the Safari-specific version of Inquisitor 2.0 has been deprioritized. Had there been sufficient appreciation of Inquisitor 1.0 via donations, things might be different, but that was not the case.

Brilliant work, David. Just awesome. That’s really all I can say! :)

Man, this is by far the sweetest AJAX implementation I have seen yet. If I could complement it more without sounding fanatical I would… why this page didn’t get more diggs @ digg.com is beyond me.

…If you ever let out the code for this puppy i’d love to see it.

in a word. slick.

Jonathan...

The problem with Inquisitor is that it’s so intuitive and unobtrusive that you forget it didn’t come with the system. $20 for Inquisitor is heading your way.

Wow! This is pretty cool! Great job, guys!

If there was only a way to make this more personal with some RSS I’d totally make this my homepage. :)

Michael...

Spotlight for the rest of the world. Kudos on a job well done.

Will you make Firefox’s extension, that will work like in Safari?

Very cool. Bravo.

Very neat, I love it! Fast and clean. There are so many search sites, and yours makes a big first impression. Will you be adding customization as to how many results are displayed? If I can get a little more results, then I’ll certainly be using it.

Tim...

Great little app.

Using it with the flock browser as the default homepage, but one thing that I noticed was I bookmarked this for the homepage, but when I opened a new window it returned the last search that I did.

It was the normal link so I am not sure what happened, but its still an awesome page / AJAX application.
